About the Artist

Donna Cary is best known for her expressive watercolors of landscapes, flowers, and animals. She has a loose style that enables her to retain the essence of the subject realistically, but that prompts the viewer to fill in the quieter or more diffused areas of the paintings. Much of her inspiration comes from nature in New Hampshire, where she has resided for 30 years.
She has been painting watercolors full-time since retiring from teaching elementary school in 2014. She teaches watercolors in her home studio, in a program at Keene State College, and at a retirement center.
Donna has earned signature status in the Vermont Watercolor Society. She is also a member of the Saxton River Art Guild and the Monadnock Artist's Association. She hangs her art in several venues and sells it online, as well.
Testimonial from best selling author Marcia Zina Mager for illustrations Donna painted for her new book:
"Working with Donna Cary was pure delight! I was so impressed by her ability to listen to what I wanted - but even more importantly - to what the story needed - and then express it masterfully with her beautiful watercolor illustrations. Her artwork truly enhanced my novel, QUEST.” - Marcia Zina Mager, international best-selling author
